About Maud

I’m Maud Maron, a lifelong New Yorker, mother of four, and passionate advocate for justice. Manhattan is my home, and like so many of you, I want to see our city thrive. I’m running for District Attorney because I believe everyone deserves to live and work in a safe, fair, and vibrant community.

For over 20 years, I served as a public defender in Manhattan and the Bronx, representing clients in both misdemeanor and felony cases. My work wasn’t just about defending individuals—it was about standing up for the principle that justice should be accessible to all. As a Senior Trial Attorney and Director of Training at the Legal Aid Society, I had the privilege of mentoring young lawyers and developing programs that strengthened our justice system. I also taught at Cardozo Law School’s Criminal Defense Clinic, sharing what I’ve learned with future legal professionals.

Outside the courtroom, I’ve worked hard to make a difference in our community. As the elected President of Community Education Council District 2, I fought for policies that put students first, emphasizing merit and opportunity in our schools. I co-founded PLACE NYC to advocate for preserving Specialized High School Admissions Tests, ensuring that every student has a fair shot at success through hard work and talent.

As Manhattan District Attorney, my vision is clear: I will restore safety to our streets and fairness to our justice system. This means holding criminals accountable, supporting victims, and addressing the root causes of crime with proactive and compassionate solutions that hold individuals responsible for their actions. I will repeal harmful policies that weaken public safety and ensure that the law is enforced evenly and transparently.

My goal is to make Manhattan a place where every family, small business, and resident feels safe and supported. I believe we can tackle the issues of rising crime, homelessness, and mental health in ways that restore our neighborhoods.

I’m running because I care about this borough, this city, and those that call it home and the nearly 65 million people from around the world who visited it last year. With decades of experience and a proven record of leadership, I’m ready to deliver safety and the common-sense, balanced justice that Manhattan is demanding and deserves.

My husband, our four children, and I live in lower Manhattan. This city has given us so much, and I’m committed to giving back by making it safer and fairer for all Manhattanites.

Sincerely,
